Project Focus | Roman Blind With Fabric Pelmet In Bath

One of our favourite parts of running our home interiors business here in Bradford on Avon, is working on bespoke soft furnishings that combine beauty with practicality. This recent installation of a Roman Blind with fabric pelmet in Bath is a perfect example of how thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship can transform a space.

The Brief

The key focus for choosing the fabrics were based around the rich blue green wall colour. The customer was after a fabric that echoed the surrounding tones whilst introducing a subtle contrast through texture and pattern. Privacy was not an issue here, but maximising light during the daytime was a priority for the customer. Clean lines and a more tailored look were the style preferences.

The Fabric Selection

We were thrilled to find such a perfect fabric that sat superbly and tonally with the wall colour. This Lanata Emerald fabric from Jane Churchill was the obvious choice. Densely embroidered to add interest and depth, the horizontal stripe pattern is an abstract landscape of sunsets, mountains and seas, creating this opulent and tactile design. This hints of earthy green accents reflect the garden view, giving this blind a harmonious and naturally elegant finish.

This fabric is suitable for both Roman blinds and curtains.

The Design

To create a more tailored look, we felt that a roman blind would be best suited here. When raised, the roman blind stacks neatly, allowing light to flood in and showcase the views beyond. When lowered, it provides privacy and warmth without overwhelming the room. We interline our Roman blinds as standard, giving them added structure and improved thermal benefits.

Adding a fabric pelmet elevates a roman blind from a simple yet effective design, to truly bespoke. In this instance. The boxed pelmet provides a clean, structured finish at the top of the window, concealing the blind mechanism completely, and creating a more tailored architectural look. This pelmet has been carefully shaped and upholstered to follow the lines of the window recess ensuring a snug fit and seamless transition between wall, ceiling and blind. This attention to detail is what allows us to customise your soft furnishings to your personal preferences, for a distinctive look.

We carefully considered every element, from accurate measurements to fabric placement, to ensure the pattern flows naturally across both the blind and pelmet. This level of detail is something we like to prioritise, as it is often the small elements that make the biggest impact.

Overall, this roman blind wasn’t just a practical solution providing warmth and privacy. It was an integral part of the overall interior scheme adding softness, colour and character.
